About

If you are going to be taking advantage of the real estate boom of 2020 then there is a whole lot more to consider then, does my new home have a fence?  The getting to your new place is also a really big part of buying a home.  Yes, low interest rates and the best school districts are really important, but sometimes the travel that is involved is not given enough thought and lots of your precious material things are destroyed in the process. I have been there and it is really sad to see unreplaceable gifts from family and passed loved ones destroyed simply due to small things that could have been avoided.  So I want to go over a few ways to move safely and smartly that will help everyone have a great experience when you get to your new home.  I don't want tragedy to befall the experience of a new home for anyone.

Finally you closed on the house.  The date is set and now you are figuring out how to move all your possessions from one place to another. The first thing is to plan out all of the things you plan on moving.  It sounds simple, but count couches and chairs and think about the size and what you are going to put them in to move.  This could call for multiple trips with a single truck. Or you could rent or borrow a trailer and be able to put lots of those items on it in one trip.  Think about gas, the 40 dollar rental of a trailer could save hundreds in gas depending on the distance and the types of vehicles involved. So knowing what type of items you are shipping and the quantity is really important.  Then go and find the right vehicles to move.  You may find it less expensive to hire a moving company and that is ok too.

The options for moving vehicles are limited to you own and who you know.  If you are unable to move with the vehicles in your friends and family circle then you need to look outside.  Renting vehicles for a day is usually around 100 dollars depending gon the size and distance you are going.  So that can actually be a good price especially if you are going to save yourself the anxiety of scratching or damaging friends and families vehicles.

Next you need to pack up wisely.  Have the right shipping supplies on hand.  I say this because shipping supplies are basically moving musts.  I like to actually go and purchase moving packages from packaging supplies stores.  They have pre set up boxes, tape that is super thick, and markers ready to make your trip easier.  New boxes save bodies.  That is a modow of mine.  The floppy used boxes end up bending or opening up and tearing and things in them get destroyed.  Also the people carrying them get injured due to the weird movements they make when trying to save a flexing box.  Especially add stairs into the mix and lots of pain is bound to happen.

So on your next move, make sure to think it through.  Get the right vehicles and get the right materials to make sure your trip will be a happy and safe move.
